Huntersville, NC – A Great Place to Live

Huntersville Birkdale Village

As you travel north on I-77 just passed the 485 Loop you will enter into the town of Huntersville.  Due to its sheer size it may appear to be a city, but it is still classified as a town.  If you are looking for your next Dream Home – you might want to consider Huntersville.  It is one of the three towns ( the others are Cornelius and Davidson) that make up  the area known as “North Meck”.  Huntersville is served by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, featuring three main high schools of Hough High School, Hopewell High School and North Mecklenburg High School.  It is also home to Central Piedmont Community College’s North Campus.  Huntersville also provides access to Lake Norman and its 520 miles of shoreline.  Huntersville residents can find access to the lake by visiting Blythe Landing Park, just off NC Highway 73 for launching boats and other recreational activities.  There is also local access to Mountain Island Lake.

Residential Communities:

For those of you looking for a new home- Huntersville has many fine communities to choose from.  I will give a brief outline of five of the best.

Birkdale: is a master-planned community built around a 18 Hole Arnold Palmer-designed golf course, locate in close proximity to Lake Norman.  Birkdale’s location in a serene setting removed from the urban bustle.  Yet, Birkdale is relatively close to all major areas of Charlotte because of its proximity to major highways.

Vermillion:  is a unique community like no other. This great subdivision in Huntersville  NC has its own restaurant called Harvey’s along with amenities and retail space. There’s new construction as well as resales in this community. Ryan Homes, Mattamy, David Weekly and Z.L. Metz Homes are a few of the names of the builders still selling new construction in Vermillion.  Tucked into historic Downtown Huntersville and one mile from I-77, you’ll find a different sort of community. A place where neighbors know each other by name, where the sidewalks are made for strolling and where the time moves a little bit slower.

Monteith Park: Looking for a neighborhood with Charleston style front porches well you have found the right community in Huntersville NC. Monteith Park well known for its front porches and common area green space throughout the community. Events ranging from front porch Fridays to pool parties, Monteith Park knows how to have a good time. Playground, walking trail and swimming pool with a slide is just a few of the wonderful amenities in this community.

Macaulay:  is a great community close to Lake Norman, shops , golf courses and more! Macaulay has wonderful amenities for you to enjoy along with quick access to highways and dining.

Northstone: is a subdivision known for its lush landscape and private golf course. This serene landscaped neighborhood is tucked into Huntersville NC so you feel like you are in the country but have all the amenities, stores and highway access

These are just a few of the excellent choices for you to choose from in the Huntersville region. The town also is known as a recreational area with many parks as well as lake communities. Its proximity to Lake Norman which is a large man-made lake created by Duke Power to serve energy to the lake area. The lake attracts boaters and water skiers from several surrounding states due to it size. Huntersville is also home to one private golf course, NorthStone Country Club, two Semi-Private courses in Skybrook Golf Club and Birkdale Golf Course. These two courses are owned and operated by the IRI group and a part of the 6-course Carolina Trail where package deals are available.

Huntersville Family Fitness and Aquatics: is a world-class facility boasting an Olympic sized 50-meter competition pool and diving well.  It has served as host to a number of World Class events, most recently hosting current and future Olympians at the 2005 Speedo US National and Junior National Diving.

The town also offers a variety of beautiful parks.  The Town of Huntersville Parks and Recreation Department manages 18 parks, gyms and multi-purpose facilities.

Area Shopping:

Huntersville is home to some of the region’s most unique mixed-use developments.

Birkdale Village is a residential, office, shopping and dining destination to compare with any in the State.  Its numerous shops, restaurants and movie theater offer something for those of all ages.  Special events and concerts are regularly held at its fountain and through its green space.

Rosedale Shopping Center offers a variety of necessities such as a CVS, Harris Teeter, Carolinas Healthcare Urgent Care, Domino’s Pizza, an ABC Store, a mix of local and fast-casual restaurants and other stores.  Similar to Birkdale Village, residents in the nearby apartments, town homes and neighborhoods find Rosedale’s offerings are but a quick walk away.
